Happy Hats…

Jul 20, 2022

Great Places resident, Anna Adams, is a keen knitter and regularly knits hats for premature babies at the neo-natal unit at St Mary’s Children Hospital.

Emanuel Whittaker Resident Liaison Officer, Sarah Kershaw, found what Anna was doing so inspiring, that she bought Anna some wool so that she could continue her efforts. Sarah also arranged transport to take Anna to the Children’s hospital to deliver the hats.

Well done to Anna and Sarah.

Baby Shower!

May 25, 2022

Emanuel Whittaker Site Manager, Stephen Ilkiw, kindly donated some baby clothes to a resident on the site where he is working.

Stephen’s wife washed and ironed the clothes so they looked good as new… what a lovely gesture.

Rad Relocated

May 25, 2022

During a kitchen upgrade at MSV resident Andrew Roberts’ home, the Emanuel Whittaker team noticed that the hall radiator was restricting his access with his wheelchair.

So the team relocated the radiator, making it easier for him to get around his bungalow.

Andrew was very grateful.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2022

May 11, 2022

Mental Health Awareness Week 2022

This is Mental Health Awareness Week, and this years’ theme is ‘loneliness’. Throughout the week Mental Health UK are encouraging us all to build meaningful connections with our friends, family, colleagues and communities.  Emanuel Whittaker FRA Site Supervisor, Adam Berry is a strong advocate of mental health support, and together with friends Suzette Carlyle-Thorley and Helen Somerville, they’ve come up with a novel plan to get the message across.

A published author of ‘Soul Rise, Soul Expressions’, Adam was inspired to write ‘Loneliness’ to commemorate Mental Health Awareness Week. Adam, Suzette and Helen reached out to friends, family and colleagues, and were overwhelmed by the demonstrations of support. Together with the support of Paralympian Sir Lee Pearson CBE, and Oscar nominated Animator/Director Barry Jonathan Crabtree Purves, and 20+ of their family and friends, they have brought ‘Loneliness’ to life.

Adam explained: “I hope that this poem will encourage those experiencing mental health issues and loneliness to connect during Mental Health Awareness Week, and realise that they are not alone… there are so many of us willing to offer a kind and helpful hand.”
