No more draughts

Mar 22, 2022

Whilst replacing a kitchen for Salix Homes resident Roger Gavin, he mentioned that his bedroom window handle had fallen off and was creating a draught throughout his flat.

Emanuel Whittaker Resident Liaison Officer Vicky Gee reported this to Emanuel Whittaker Site Manager Mike Rylance to see if we could help. Mike managed to find a spare window handle in the office and fitted it himself. Roger couldn’t believe it and was very thankful, especially with the recent storms we’ve been having!

Helping Hand

Mar 22, 2022

Northwards Housing resident, Donna Hayward, had just returned home following a lengthy stay in hospital, when fire stopping work had to be carried out in the loft space of her bungalow at White Moss Gardens. This meant that Donna would be confined to her bedroom, as she was on 24hr oxygen.

Emanuel Whittaker Resident Liaison Officers, Sarah Kershaw and Sharna Bradley, visited Donna throughout the day, making her cups of tea and making lunch for her whilst the work was carried out.

Derek Tart and Danny Hancock from fire stopping sub-contractor Alpha, also kept Donna’s spirits up throughout the day with jokes and funny stories.

Donna was very grateful and enjoyed everyone being there.

Recycled Records

Mar 22, 2022

Salix Homes resident, William Dunden, decided to have a clear out whilst he was having his new kitchen fitted.

William was keen to offload a collection of unwanted vinyl records, so Emanuel Whittaker Resident Liaison Officers Vicky Gee and Garry Holt offered to take them off his hands and see if anyone wanted them. As nobody had a record player, they took them to the local charity shop.

Vicky and Garry had fun reading the covers, which brought back happy memories of some great days buying records by some fantastic artists.

Double delight

Mar 22, 2022

The Emanuel Whittaker site team has been working closely with FCHO resident Sharon Dyson since works started on her home in October last year.  Sharon was down to have a new kitchen, wet room and separate WC.  But Sharon explained to the team how she really wanted to be able to relax in a bath, and longed for a soak in a hot bubble bath.

After a few emails to FCHO, the team were able to make her dreams a reality, and she was given a new bathroom. Sharon was overjoyed when she was told the good news!

On a more recent visit, Emanuel Whittaker Resident Liaison Officer Courtney Greatorex realised that it was Sharon’s Birthday. So the team decided to make Sharon’s day and surprise her with a card and gifts wishing her a Happy Birthday!
