Sweet Treats
Aug 28, 2024As the work here ends, we wanted to show our appreciation to the staff and each resident at Rose Court, Women’s Action Group, has been given some sweet treats, as a thank you from us, for being so helpful during the kitchen upgrade works to their properties.
The residents often arrive at the scheme with very little, so the staff were so grateful for our gesture of kindness.

Homemade Happiness
Aug 28, 2024In a heart-warming turn of events in a quaint neighbourhood, Mel, a local resident of One Manchester, has brought smiles to the faces of the Emanuel Whittaker workers that will soon be renovating her kitchen.
Mel’s homemade organic blackcurrant jam, has become a beacon of joy and appreciation.
Mel, an avid gardener and culinary enthusiast, has always had a passion for making organic jams from the fruits she grows in her own backyard. Strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are transformed into delightful jars of jam in her kitchen.
“The jam is fantastic,” says Emanuel Whittaker Resident Liaison Officer, Vicky Gee. “It’s not just that it tastes great, it’s knowing that Mel has put so much care into making it. It really boosts our spirits.”
“I just wanted to share my passion,” Mel explains. “These guys are working so hard to transform local houses. The least I could do was offer them something homemade and from the heart.”
Mel often drops in to the site office for a chat; she has become a fried to us all!

Little Acts of Kindness
Aug 28, 2024After almost being made homeless, resident, Elizabeth and her family have since found a property to rent with MCC.
However, the family had no furniture and only a few bags of clothes to their name.
Emanuel Whittaker Resident Liaison Officer, Michelle Kateley and MCC Mechanical Clarke, Andy Holland, along with the rip out team, Liam and Paul, set out to get Elizabeth and her family some furniture and we managed to get lots of things through Social Media, all free furniture, pots and pans, bedding etc.
Thank you to all of the kind people who donated items.

Community Spirit
Aug 28, 2024In a heart-warming display of community spirit, Emanuel Whittaker, has gone beyond their usual duties, by creating a child’s custom desk for a resident in need. The idea came about during a routine kitchen replacement project in one of the properties in Beswick.
The social housing team, led by Site Supervisor, Mike Green, noticed the family’s predicament during their visits.
“We were installing new kitchens with top-notch materials, and it struck us that we could do something extra with the leftover materials,” said Mike. “Joe was doing his work at the kitchen table, which wasn’t ideal. We decided to surprise the family with a desk made from the same materials we used for the kitchen.”
The team took it upon themselves to design and build a matching desk for Joe, using the high-quality wood and fittings left over from the kitchen installation. They carefully designed the desk to complement the new kitchen, ensuring it was both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
When the team unveiled the desk, the resident was moved to tears. “I can’t believe they did this for us,” she said. “Joe now has a proper place to do his number work. This desk means so much to us and shows how caring and thoughtful our community is.”
“Its small acts of kindness like this that truly make a difference,” Mike reflected. “We’re not just here to build and maintain homes; we’re here to build a supportive and caring relationship.”
As a reminder that even in challenging times, there are always opportunities to lend a helping hand and brighten someone’s day.
