However, in our 179 year history, we have built numerous buildings, perhaps the most well know of which is Oldham Lyceum – and we have also built many of the cotton mills in Oldham and surrounding districts.

Therefore, we are delighted to be building another new landmark building for our home town – this time for its four legged residents.  We have recently started work on a new Animal Centre for the Bury, Oldham & District branch of the RSPCA.

The local RSPCA had its base at Rhodes Bank Oldham for more than 50 years and now that has been demolished, a new state of the art facility is being developed at the former Strinesdale Water Treatment known as the Strinesdale Centre.

The Strinesdale Centre will accommodate 15 dogs in kennels developed specially for their size and 56 cats, including accommodation for a cat with kittens.  The kennels will have their own exercise areas as well as en-suite sleeping areas.  In addition, the Centre will provide an operating theatre, a recovery room, consultation and treatment room, an isolation ward and a specialist sensory behaviour area to help animals who may have been neglected or abused.

It’s great to be using our expertise for such a well loved charity and we can’t wait to meet the new occupants in the autumn.

The RSPCA is holding a dog show and family fun day at Alexander Park, Oldham on 22nd May to raise funds for the new Centre and so if you do live in Oldham, please try to go along and support them.
