Whittaker’s Way

Jul 23, 2025

During June Emanuel Whittaker had the pleasure of taking on a work experience student, Lucie Coverley, from St Mary’s RC High School.

Lucie spent the week with Emanuel Whittaker Resident Liaison Officer, Sarah Kershaw and the site team working with Great Places on a window and door project.

Throughout the week, Lucie visited resident’s properties to inform them of works being carried out in their home, she attended properties where refurbishment works were taking place, completed paperwork such as door choices and input them onto the computer system.

Lucie took full advantage whilst out on site and really enjoyed meeting residents.

Recycle Reuse

Val Lewis is another of our residents at Tonge Court. Val’s current cooker was broken and it just so happened that a neighbour was buying a replacement and giving the older functional cooker away.

Val was not sure how the replacement cooker would be moved and what she would do with her current one.

Site Manager, Dwayne Taylor, arranged for Emanuel Whittaker Operatives Ian Hall & Martin Higgins to drop off the replacement and discard the old cooker.

Val is so pleased with her replacement and was very grateful for the assistance.

Helping Hand

Tony, a Great Places resident at Chatsworth Lodge, Buxton, is currently battling Illness.

Since being on site, Emanuel Whittaker Resident Liaison Officer, Henry Crompton, and Site Manager, Stephen Ilkiw, have tried to help Tony as much as possible.

This includes; regularly taking his rubbish to the bins and most recently sourcing and replacing a light bulb in his fridge.

We have also set up a permanent ambulance space within site, to allow residents to get to hospital appointments as quickly and easily as possible.

Pictured here are; Great Places resident, Tony and Emanuel Whittaker Site Manager, Stephen Ilkiw.

Santa’s Little Helpers

Jan 21, 2025

Sarah Lodge is an amazing facility, offering homes to expectant mums and mums with small babies and children.

Whilst undertaking a complete window refurbishment and replacement facia and soffits, along with fire doors on the run up to Christmas, we became aware that the majority of the young families would not receive any Christmas presents this year.

We contacted all of our sub-contractors involved in the project and asked if they would donate money to enable us to provide each mum and child with a Christmas present.  Kev & Rick from Orchid Window Installations, Carl from Elite Scaffolding, Paul from Securex Doors and ourselves, all agreed and gave generously.

These amazing donations allowed us to provide all mums and children with a gift each. As well as provide them with snacks and refreshments for the Christmas Eve movie night and say thank you to the staff who work really hard providing a safe environment for all the residents.

A special thank you goes to Dawn and Niamh Coyle for helping to wrap all the presents, Chloe Robinson at Great Places for helping on the day, Emanuel Whittaker Site Manager, Phil Taylor, for dressing up as Father Christmas, Emanuel Whittaker Joiners, Will Finn, Gavin Walters and Carl Fagan for being Santa’s little helpers on the day and Emanuel Whittaker Resident Liaison Officer, Sarah Kershaw, for organising the event.
