Thanks Taylor

When the lifts at Victoria Square were out of service, a new resident realised he had a problem on his hands.

The new resident had purchased a bed and a mattress to furnish his new flat but had no way of getting them up the stairs to his top floor property.

That’s where Emanuel Whittaker apprentice joiner Taylor Varley stepped in to help.

Taylor took the customers mattress and bed up the stairs, and safely put them in the resident’s new home.

Since joining his colleagues in delivering the FRA scheme for Northwards Housing, Taylor has quickly become an asset to the team.

Sarah Isaac of Lower Bamford Close, was very complimentary on her customer satisfaction form… “I really appreciate the work done, it is like a mood lifter for me, I was a bit depressed due to the pandemic, but when they came to do this job I was very happy. The team were very good and a big thanks to the liaison officer Garry, he is super fantastic! The team are very polite, always inform of what they want to do next, very professional, Well done!!”

Sarah even went as far as texting to pay a further compliment which read “Garry you have done very well, there was no pressure nor stress of any kind on our time and availability, good communication at every stage of the refurbishment, really appreciate it all. Keep the good job up, the professionalism was second to none. Well done and thank you once again”.

Sarah also stopped Garry whilst he was carrying out his daily site inspections to hand him a gift. He explained that the team were unable to accept gifts, although it was very kind. However, Sarah insisted, stating that she would be extremely offended and that she had already explained on her satisfaction form about the positive impact the works has had on her daily outlook… how could he refuse?

As a reward for all their hard work and going the extra mile, Contracts Manager John Gallagher treats the best performing teams to a monthly award.

The #breakfastbuttyaward is an opportunity for management to acknowledge the little acts of kindness performed by the site teams, and for site teams to celebrate their achievements.

Last month, Site Manager Katie Lockwood and her team were the proud recipients of the award.

As it was Mental Health Awareness Week, Katie used the socially distanced breakfast get together as an opportunity to speak to the site team about mental health awareness.  Both Katie and Resident Liaison Officer Janice Nolan are trained in mental health first aid and they realise the importance of being approachable to the site team.

During the breakfast butty feast, Janice and Katie shared Andys Man Club fliers with the lads on site and one of our Sub-contractors, Brian Thompson at Alpha said  “It is nice to know there are people to talk to who are able to point us in the right direction if need be”.

The team really appreciated the breakfast treat.  Are they in contention for this month’s award… watch this space!
