Pennington Close following its major refurbishment

Pennington Close is the last of the five City West sheltered schemes to get a major makeover in this year’s programme.  As expected, residents and all those involved wanted to have a celebration to mark the grand reopening.

On 20th April, Pennington Close opened its shiny new doors to residents, their families and guests to take a look at the refurbishment works to their communal facilities.

The facilities were officially opened by Mr and Mrs Wilson. Norma and May moved into Pennington Close in their 60’s, 20 years ago. Each were presented with a bouquet of flowers by City West’s Nigel Sedman, who gave a short speech.

Everyone was given the opportunity to have a look around at the new facilities before enjoying a buffet and cake provided by City West and Emanuel Whittaker.  After all the speeches and the guests had left, the residents went on to christen their new facilities with a party that went on well after the guests had left.

Residents and guests commented on how pleased they were with the refurbishments, and acknowledged that ‘no expense had been spared’ on the works and new fixtures and fittings. It was a clear demonstration that the residents were delighted with their new communal facilities and appreciated the investment made by City West into their sheltered scheme.
